On Sunday, November 1, our Vihara warmly invites all to the Taking Refuge in the Triple Gem and Five Precepts Conferral Ceremony. This meaningful occasion offers an opportunity to deepen one’s commitment to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and to strengthen the foundation for a life of wisdom and compassionate practice.
Taking refuge in the Triple Gem is an important milestone on the Buddhist path, providing a firm spiritual direction grounded in right understanding. Receiving the Five Precepts is a sincere commitment to cultivate wholesome conduct, speak truthfully, act with kindness, and nurture a peaceful and mindful heart in daily life. Whether you are taking refuge and the precepts for the first time or renewing your aspiration, all are welcome to participate in this significant occasion.
Therefore choosing to participate in this ceremony is a conscious step towards living with greater clarity, gratitude, compassion and aligning ourselves with the timeless teachings that support our growth and well-being.
Coming together as a community to uphold the precepts also generates collective merits, which we can dedicate to our parents, loved ones, and all beings. In this way, the new year becomes more than a change of date; it becomes a meaningful moment to reaffirm our spiritual direction.
We welcome all who wish to take this gentle yet significant step on the Buddhist path.
